In either case you'll be stuck capturing the recording from the TiVo to the DVD device in realtime. Not only that but it will require the full use of your TiVo, so you wont be able to watch anything else via the TiVo while it's dubbing.
The only way to do a true digital dub that can happen in faster then realtime and not tie up your TiVo is to get one of the new Pioneer TiVo/DVD-RW units.
