I want to format my Tivo-generated burned-to-DVD movies from my Pioneer Tivo DVR to a Windows-friendly format, preferably .avi or .wmv. Anybody know any software that can do that ? I tried Windows Movie Maker...no help. Premier might do it but it's pretty $$$ Thx for help.

TMPGEnc would do it.

Head over to dvdrhelp.com for more info on this sort of thing than you could ever wish for...

I think Dr. Divx works too from the Divx People. Its probably about a billion times easier to use then converting to TMPGEnc although you are limited to only outputting Divx 5.x Avi's.

Divx would work as an output codec for TMPEnc, so it's not necessarily an exclusive choice. It might well be easier to use Dr. Divx than TMPEnc if you don't need the extra features. dvdrhelp.com should get him started on figuring out what fits his needs best.
