5/14 Joan of Arcadia "The Gift"

Is anyone else still following this show? I thought tonights was one of the best of the series. I continue to be impressed at how well the tackle hard subjects with other smaller plotlines that sort of mesh together at the same time. I thought the overall sex storyline was very well done, though if that were my parents there would be much more yelling, but it drives home the other theme of tonight.. faith. The consequences of decisions seemed to be the other, from parents in dealing with kids ("west side story") to Joan and sex, to Kevin choosing to write as he did which affected the criminal and his family was underiding tonight.

BTW.. the teaser for next weeks look pretty cool.

Next week's ep looks very interesting!

Although this episode was amazing, as always, I can't think of anything but the preview for next week. I can't wait!!!

Spoiler Question about next week...

Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)

When Joan pops out of bed, was that a hospital bed??

Oddly (given all the praise), this is one of the few episodes of the show that I found absolutely unwatchable. I deleted it after about ten minutes. It was just too painful watching Joan be a complete and utter idiot, which is exactly how she was acting.

The only other one I can recall deleting early was the jump-roping one, which was way too preachy in its first few minutes.

Isn't that the point. My daughter (12) acts like an self-centered, egotistical, idiot 4-5 times a day...then she'll do something so wonderful you wouldn't think it was the same person....

The ep was good. I think you missed out on this one.

This is a good pickup from lasts weeks episode (which has rather boring).

I'm almost worried thinking about this weeks episode. There was the one shot of God talking to Mom. Could Mom be the new Joan? That would sort of suck, so I assume not.

Agreed. I thought it was an utter crap episode.

Grace's character is definately getting softer. She used to be such a 'hate the world' person, but now is showing some feelings.

Are we sure Grace is straight? I just don't see the brother and her as a couple, but opposites attract.

I think she's intentionally "ambiguous." I see great opportunity for rich story lines around this aspect of her character.

I enjoy seeing the cracks in her outer shell; I wish they'd explore them more...
