What to watch this summer

Now that the big dogs are in repeats, you may want to give these puppies a chance if you haven't already. After all, this is a pretty hip crowd. I think they're all coming back next season.

Comedies:

Arrested Development (FOX)- truly original and consistently funny.

Two and a Half Men (CBS) - an adult comedy with a kid who, refreshingly, acts his age.

Scrubs (NBC) - as good as the hype.

George Lopez (ABC) - a traditional sitcom with more edge than you would expect.

Coupling (BBCA)- don't let the NBC clone turn you away. This is one of the best relationship comedies ever written.

Monk (USA) - Low key and well played.

Dramas:

The Shield (FX) - The best cop drama. Ever.

Nip/Tuck (FX) - As edgy as The Shield, and even more outrageous.

Touching Evil (USA) - An adaption of a British series that I like better than the original. Dark, moody, and a main character who was once dead and not a vampire or slayer.

These two shows are still hangin by a thread, on another network from their origin, and only a few unaired episodes left. They'll soon be gone forever, so don't like them too much:

Karen Sisco (now on USA) - Sexy, smart, and as cool as they come. The show's good too. Very Noir.

Keen Eddie (now on BRAVO) - The style of filming almost overwhelms the great scripts and actors, but is worth the effort.

There are 6 episodes of Keen Eddie on BRAVO that weren't aired on FOX. Repeats are fun to watch too.

Touching Evil's first season is finishing up on June 11th I think, but maybe they'll show repeats during the summer to build their audience.

Plenty of new seasons starting in June already actually: The Dead Zone (June 6th), Six Feet Under (June 13th), Monk (June 18th), Nip/Tuck (June 22nd).

I also plan on giving some of the Fox summer lineup a chance: The Jury (June 8th) and Casino (JUne 14th). Summerland on The WB (June 1st) is also in my 'new shows to check out' list, but I'm not prepared to admit that in a public forum like this one (Oops...).

July's got a couple of interesting shows coming up too: The 4,400 (USA), Entourage (HBO) and of course Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis both air mid-month. Dead Like Me also starts again that month.

I've been collecting Deadwood since the start of the series and am going to start burning them off soon.
