So these are DVD-R disc, not DVR discs. Thought this was a cool deal on TiVo replacement hard drives.

I got 20 DVD+R disks at Staples the other day (some unknown brand) for $15 and a $10 rebate. That works out to 25˘/disk. You rebate-haters can poo-poo this if you like.

I'm still now sure why anyone would buy no-name media. It just doesn't seem worth it (coasters, bad data found months later, etc), when you can get Ritek's for about $0.66.

All this talk of cheap DVD's make me want to bring up the subject of DVD recorders to my wife again. She nixed the idea because she likes offloading to VHS. But she's got over 540 VHS tapes in the house!

What's the difference between +R and -R? Can either of them be rewritten to after they've already be previously written to?

I avoid the no-names when it comes to recordable DVD media. Just too many compatibility issues. Note: the Slickdeals DVD-R's are good and a great deal but watch out for those no-name deals every week at Staples, Office Max, etc...

mine had plenty on monday. the paper said sunday only, but they still had them on monday, rebate still works and they still used the coupon. i suspect they are on sale all week.

question, this media i bought, is by TEON. anyways, they are DVD+R discs, but on the spindle covering, it says RW in a small logo. the same RW logo is on my dvd burner. i would think RW means R-Writable. But the discs are cleary DVD+R not DVD+RW. can anyone explain this?
