Now that HMO is free do you plan on using it?

I didn't have a home network, so I had to run out and pick one up. I went with a wired network for greater speed and reliability. I set it up this weekend and I am very pleased so far! I've used the music and photo options and I know I will get a lot of pleasure out of those features. I also plan on picking up a 2nd TiVo to put in the bedroom so I can take advantage of MRV.

I've got a wireless network (mixed mode B/G) and have found reliability to be excellent. As far as speed, it's not really a factor with the Tivo since you're not usually pushing much data (other than the occasional OS upgrade) over the net.

Same exact situation JoeBarbs

Waiting on my second tivo as we speak and look forward to MRV.

The remote scheduling is great.

I'm now using the MRV option (peer-to-peer) with no home network.

I may get a home network to use the other options (and newer ones coming).

I voted next to last in the poll. I would use it, but DirecTV has decided for now, not to upgrade the DirecTivo software so I can utilize HMO. Otherwise it would be installed and running as we speak.

I'll probably use the Internet scheduling, but that's about it. I don't really listen to my PC music in my TV room or view pics on my TV. But this DEFINATELY makes me think about getting a second TiVo.

I didn't see the need for HMO when it was announced years ago, and I don't see it now. I might use remote scheduling a couple times a year, if that, and we don't have (or need) TiVos anywhere except the living room anyway so there's no need for show sharing. I have no desire to view images or listen to music files on a TiVo. I have no desire to preserve recordings on DVD or put them on a laptop, so I don't need TiVo2Go either.

I have no use for HMO and never did. I live in a house with roommates so both Tivos are in my room next to my computer.

I have no use for HMO. I don't have a digital camera, I don't download songs, I only have one TV and I don't have a home network.

I just hooked up with HMO last night. I already had a home network so it was fairly simple.

I don't need MRV nor do I have very many pics to show but I love the ability to hear my MP3's on my home theater.

I already had a wired home network so my son and I could share the cable
modem on different computers. Had to get a USB adapter and flat CAT-5 cable to go under carpet from living room PC to Tivo.

Love HMO! Having all my MP3s streaming to Tivo sure beats the old analog cable I had wired to my receiver, usually with ground hum. Sound is superlative, and Tivo interface on TV screen is fine. I stream radio stations to Tivo and use playlists easily. Photos load fast and it's fun watching photos on big screen for slide shows. They do need to get photos and music working at the same time. I also use remote scheduling almost every day, as I have more time to check listings at work studio than at home...

HMO doesn't add a lot of value for me. I don't need Tivo to handle my music or photos...I have other tools for that. I only have one Tivo, so show sharing is not an issue. I had some interest in remote scheduling...but I understand that the functionality is limited (can't view To Do List or immediately resolve show conflicts, etc.), so I don't see a real need for that either. Maybe when Tivo2Go comes out I'll take another look.

I have a series 2 and a series 1 (the series 1 is unsubbed), so I assume this means I can't have HMO. But can I view my digital photos on my TV using the TiVo menus?

Our only real use of HMO is the MRV as this allows us to use our 3rd TiVo essentially as a 2nd tuner for the first TiVo in the livingroom. I'm sure it will also come in handy on sick days when I feel like watching all my normal programming from the comforts of the bed.

Remote Scheduling won't be used in our household unless maybe if we go on vacation and I just happen to come across something that prompts me to set a recording. I normally think very little about TV while away from the house.

We only listen to MP3s in the car and while we are on the computers, so I doubt I'll be using our TV there. The only time I show our digital pics are to relatives (which never seem to visit us), so a laptop is easier for me there. I'd still have bought HMO for $150 just for the MRV though.

You can't have MRV (multi-room viewing, i.e. transferring programs between TiVos), but you certainly can have HMO (technically now HMF) on your series 2. If you add a network card and get it on your network, you can view digital photos, listen to mp3s, and schedule recordings over the Internet.

If you use JavaHMO instead of TiVo Desktop on your PC, there's a menu item for Shoutcast streams. You can also listen to some radio streams without JavaHMO, but I confess I can't remember how to do it. Search the HMO forum to find out. (I'd do it, but my right arm is trapped under a sleeping baby!)

I have a home network and would love to use HMO, but my TiVos (2) are DirecTV DVRs.

Still, I'd rather have the multiple tuners and the less expensive service than HMO.

I do have a home network, but don't plan on using HMO because my units are S1 units the HMO doesn't work on it.
