Post mfstools can't see partitions?

Hello all,

I have a hacked Phillips HDR312 with 2.0.1. It's currently inactive, since I have my new Hughes DTiVo doing it's dual-tuner magic. I'm selling the HDR312 to a friend of mine, but I need to do some maintenance first.

I've been trying to use mfstools (on the bootable CD) to make a backup and divorce the A drive (even though I have a 2.0.1-Z16 backup on another 30GB drive). Problem is, mfstools can't seem to find the information it needs to back up the drive. The drive is installed as /dev/hdb. I don't have the exact error message on me at the moment, but if I run fdisk /dev/hdb and try to list the partitions, there are none displayed. If I mount /dev/hdb4 /mnt/tivo, it works fine and I can see all of the files that should be there. I've checked to make sure the drive isn't locked.

FWIW, I'm running:

mfstool backup -6 -s -o /mnt/d/TiVo.bak /dev/hdb

There is a large FAT32 partition mounted on /mnt/d.

Am I doing something wrong? I'll post the specific mfstools error information when I get a chance.

Michael

You need to have both drives attached to perform a divorce.

This how to may be useful: http://www.newreleasesvideo.com/hinsdale-how-to/

Fdisk is not linux, you will need pdisk if wishing to display the partitions.
