Post Samba Client with TiVoNet?

Has anyone done this? I have a Windows home network, and I'd like to be able to get at the video files merely by sharing the drive they're on, since I do all my video work on a Windows PC.

Wink

Here is exactly what you're looking for http://www.ptvupgrade.com/cgi-bin/u...?ubb=forum&f=2. Read the two threads towards the top that were started by Gary Williams.

Well, that's not exactly what I was looking for. It may do most of what I want, but it doesn't set up file sharing the way Samba does, so I can see everything on the Linux box from my Windows machines. Has anyone tried running a Samba client in a TiVo? Is sixteen megs enough RAM for that?

When I installed my TivoNet card right after I got 2.5. I looked into this, and at the time was told that the Samba client was broke. However you can mount a NFS partition on the tivo using a NFS server on your windows box.

Many folks have mounted Windows shares from the TiVo, but I haven't heard of anyone sharing TiVo drives. You could only share the ext2 partitions, since the video areas (MFS) are not mountable file systems. Search for Samba here and look in the download area at http://www.sonnik.com/tivo/ for the files that you need.
