Any Opinions on Sony Computers' Gigapocket Software?

I've seen the ads for Sony's Digital Studio computers with the 80-GB hard drives and Gigapocket PTVR software.

I know that the Sony computers have some serious flaws (dinky sound system, slow hard drives, pokey CPUs, and high price tag) -- but I was curious about the PTVR setup. Has anyone actually seen this in action? I can't imagine it's implemented any better than TiVo, but is it still useful?

I've also heard that the ATI Radeon All-in-Wonder video card has Guide PLUS software that does the same thing for way less than a new VAIO.

If TiVo's focus is on the software and subscription business, why doesn't it pursue the off-the-shelf software market or provide software for video card manufacturers?

Just curious to hear some reactions.
