Upgraded TiVO will not complete daily call

I cloned my 14 hour to a Maxtor 30 gig (7200). Ran it for a week to ensure OK with new drive. No problems. Daily call works fine. Then I added the blessed second drive (Maxtor 80 gig 5400 tested with Maxtor utilities). Boots fine 117+ hours capacity. But no longer completes a daily call.

"loading data 100%", "Indexing series 100%", "indexing shows" then crash. After reboot it simply says "Failed Unknown" after a reboot.

I haven't tried the Ultra ATA 66 ribbon cable... sounds implausible to me, though.

Any ideas?

this was the second time
that's why i did the low-level diagnostic on the second drive
and that's why i ran it on the cloned drive for a week before adding second drive

?

well it just completed a daily call... i guess it was the third attempt

i'll let everyone know if it is sporadic or chronic
