Talking DiskPro on B drive

My tivo B drive was making some loud noises, so I decided to replace it with another identical drive. I was just going to make a clone of it using Diskpro, but I can't Identify which drive is the source and which is the destination because they both have the same specs. I'm assuming that if the source if Primary master and the destination is Secondary Master, the source will be drive 0 and the Dest. will be drive 1. But you know what they say about assuming, you can make an ASS outta U and ME. Any advice here.

Thanks

If you use Dylan's bootdisk, primary master is /dev/hda and secondary master is /dev/hdc, though you'd be bnetter off using primary and secondary slave, /dev/hdb and /dev/hdd, since they are both byte-swapped.

How long should it take to copy with Dylan's disk? It's been running for two hours or so. After I typed the command in, is it right that I get no output until it is done???? My Maxtor don't have any LED's on them so I can't tell what's going on.

That's correct,no output 'til it's done. The screen may go blank at some point, don't worry, it's just a screensaver (hit a key, such as space, to get the image back).

For a 13G drive, it takes my machine roughly 1.5h.

Wink

Backup time has a lot to do with the speed of the PC. I would not be overly concerned with 2-3 hours.
