Can I increase block size and keep recordings?

I had upgraded my TiVo a few months ago to two 120 GB drives using MFS Tools 1.1, and now the Now Showing list is very slow (I have about 200 items). I understand that increasing the block size will speed it up. Please let me know if this will work... I'm getting two new 120 GB drives, and plan to follow the Hinsdale guide, upgrade configuration #5 option #1, but add the -r option. So I'll connect all four 120s to my PC and use the command:

mfsbackup -Tao - /dev/hda /dev/hdb | mfsrestore -s 127 -r 4 -xzpi - /dev/hdc /dev/hdd

Anyone know if this will work?

TIA!

Definitely won't work. MFS Tools copies existing partitions when you do this. -r only affects the new partitions that MFS Tools creates to fill unused space.

It might be possible with video extraction/insertion, but I have no experience with that.

Also, the -x switch is to expand the destination drives. Since the destination drives are the same size as the source, this will do nothing.

The -r n option is documented in the MFS Tools README file as to only work with such new partitions.
