I'd recommend getting two DirecTiVos. The setup you describe will cost you $18/month in TiVo fees ($13/month for the SA TiVo and $5/month for the DirecTiVo). Using two DirecTiVos will cost just $5/month in TiVo fees. That savings will pay for the second DirecTiVo (at $200) in 16 months; and it'll pay for the difference between the DirecTiVo and a standard DirecTV receiver in less time than this. You'll also get the benefits of the DirecTiVo, such as dual tuners and better picture quality.
Of course, this assumes you're paying monthly for your SA TiVos. If not, then the monthly costs may not favor the DirecTiVo, but you'll get back a big hunk of change by selling the lifetime-subscribed SA units on eBay.
You should also check the DirecTV with TiVo forum for information on where to find DirecTiVos. Even if you can't get two Series 1 DirecTiVos from American, you'll be able to get one directly from DirecTV for $200 after you subscribe; or you can wait for a Series 2 unit (due out Real Soon Now), again at $200 (from Circuit City).
