Angry Tivo Remote is Driving Me Crazy

I just purchased an AT&T Series 1 TIVO that connects to my cable box via a serial connection - I own a Zenith TV. For some reason, whenever I press certain Tivo buttons (or at least combinations of buttons) the Tivo remote treats it as pushing the TV input button (i.e. tv/vcr button) and switches the input to my VCR.

I know the button combinations are not random, although I can only guess that it happens when I push certain combinations of keys involving the down button or the 5 number button.

This problem is driving me crazy. Worse, this problem is driving my wife crazy and is beginning to alienate her from the TIVO (she has a 2 hour tolerance for new technology - if she doesn't understand it by then she gives up).

Any help as to why the Tivo remote is doing this and how I can stop it would be greatly appreciated. I ran several searches through the forums and didn't see anything on this subject.

Just so everyone knows my setup - The Tivo Remote is connected to my cable box with a serial cable. The TIVO is connected via three audio/video cables. The VCR is connected to my tv via coaxial cables. I have split the cable signal between my cable box (which goes to the Tivo) and my VCR. The Tivo sits on top of my TV.

Thanks,
Dan

According to my search, it's pretty common. Try this:

If that doesn't work, look through these other threads (zenith+remote):

Thank you. The initial post seems to have solved my problem.
