Today's 'Kentucky Derby Preview show' on NBC which was categorized on the TiVo as 'Sports, Non-Event' actually featured 2 live races (one of which was the Arkansas Derby). I only caught the show because it was announced on the ESPN broadcast of the Wood Memorial (correctly identified) and I was watching slightly behind live TV.

FWIW, my hardcopy TV Guide correctly identified the show as being a broadcast of live racing.

So if you are a fan of horse racing, be aware that the ordinary SP or WL for 'Horse Racing' which expects the broadcast to be an Event may miss a good portion of the broadcasts leading up to the Triple Crown.

I think this was done a protection for those who want the big race itself each year and have set up a wish list for "Kentucky Derby" within "Sports > Event" to get the event broadcast itself and not get any pre-shows.

I think this is NBC's fault for not isolating the live race as a program outside of the preview show...

I guess my original post wasn't clear. The guide data was just plain wrong. This wasn't a preview/review show with talking heads in a studio and highlights of the racing so far. This was live racing, just like the show on ESPN which had been broadcast immediately before.

I do see your point, but you can't isolate the live racing as a program outside the preview show if there is no preview show.
