Howard Stern uses TiVo in studio for instant replay

....for his TV show on the E! channel and just for him and other employees to see stuff.

It was on his E! show either Thursday or Friday night (I forget) during the segment called "It's just wrong" (I'll spare you non-Stern fans the details).

There was a point where Howard said he wanted to see something again (a naked woman) and they showed him behind his console with his TV monitor, but the screen on the monitor was on "pause" and there was the unmistakable green status bar on the screen.

Probably a trivial spot, but interesting just the same that they were obviously using standalones for IR capabilities.

Anyone else see it? Sorry for not posting this earlier before others may have deleted their recordings of the show......

So he records the live video feed as its being taped? I wonder if they hacked it or if he's just recording on manual.

I have heard over the years that he has TiVo at his house also.

I'd guess it just something simple, like using the buffer with suggestions turned off. Hell, even with suggestions turned on it would still do what he would want since there is probably no cable box hooked up. I doubt he his explicitly recording a channel, since it is all being recorded anyway on professional equipment. He's probably just using it for its buffering.

while I did see It's Just Wrong, I didn't notice the green bar you describe. I can't double check because the show has been deleted.

Howard was the very first recipient of a hacked TiVo. Years ago, when 30 hours was the max, and the underground hadn't developed the hack yet, TiVolutionary presented Howard with a 70 hour TiVo.
