why doesn't my skip to tick function work?

I have a stand alone TIVO and got 2.5 three days ago, however when I push the remote it still skips-to-end rather than skips-to-ticks. Is something wrong?

But if you use 30-second skip backdoor, the tickmarks don't work! I think I'm going to have to disable my 30-second skip!

Since the 30-sec skip is just 6 button pushes (S-P-S-3-0-S), it shouldn't be TOO big a deal...it is a toggle on/off, so disable it when you need to jump 15 minutes or to the end, then re-enable it for the beauty of the 30-sec skip (which I use far more frequently than the other functions anyway).

Unless 6 button pushes is just way too strenuous for you, that is!
