Yes. it is possible to do what you request. I was going to do this for my upgrade, back up the 30gbTivo A drive to the 80gb "B" drive, burn the image to cd, then bless the 80gb and install it in the Tivo. One (big) problem with this is, you can't try the back to make sure it's OK without risking your A drive. There have been plenty of posts here about people trying to restore from a image only to find that the b/u was no good. Unless they can find someone to give them a image, their Tivo is dead. if you do a straight copy to a Quantum (Maxtor) drive, you can put the b/u into the Tivo and use it as the A drive, you'll know right away if it's a good b/u and know that you have a "solid" b/u drive put aside. Either way, your trading money for security.
