Just got my TiVo Series 2/80 last weekend...and things are working great. However while reading the user guides, there is mention of Tivolution Magazine and Showcase...I don't have that anywhere on TiVo menus.

Are they no longer available?

They are still there, they have just changed location slightly from what the manual probably says. Press TiVo button to bring up DIRECTV Central, the there is a Showcases selection. within that there is a TiVolution Magazine. At least that's where they are on my combo boxes.

I don't have DirectTV. This isn't a DirectTV feature only is it?

I've drilled down to every possible menu and sub-menu...and no Tivolution Mag or Showcase.

it sometimes takes awhile for these options to show up on a new TIVO. I would give it a week or so. They will show up on the Tivo Central screen.

just keep making the daily calls.

... and even once they show up, they sometimes come and go.

And, on rare occasions, they never show up at all. One of my units (the current "40hr" model) never receives them. It's kind of spooky!

It's not arbitrary, it always takes a few days. If you don't have them a week from now, something's weird.

It's not so much that it's "arbitrary", more that the Tivo folks decide when something goes into Tivolution or Showcases, and sometimes they seem to decide not to have anything.
