Help: I have a Matrix Descrambler

I just purchased a used TIVO. I am trying to set up the IR cable to work on my Matrix cable descrambler. Does anyone know what the equivalent cable box is? Jerrold, Scientific Atlanta, or other? Where do the IR pieces have to be placed in order for the IR cable to work properly? Thanks ahead of time.

From what I see, that is an illegal device for viewing cable channels that you don't pay for. If that is so, I wouldn't expect much help in the way of a solution.

Actually, this device is not illegal as long as I pay for the channels that I receive. And I do pay for these channels, thank you. If anyone would like to help me, I would appreciate it.

Then why don't you use a regullar box from your cable company that TiVo will likely support.

Because I can get all the channels (pay-per-view and all) at a package price instead of purchasing them movie by movie. People can be so cynical sometimes.

Regardless of the morality issues, TiVo does not support aftermarket cable boxes. So your only choice is to either...

a) go through the codes one by one hoping you find one that works.

b) get an official cable box from your cable company that the TiVo will work with.

I thought all these charges were from your cable provider. How is it they're giving you a better deal with an aftermarket box than with the one they rent to you?

Alright, last time. If you have a standard cable box, the cable company will not allow you to purchase pay-per-view on a monthly basis. however, if you have an aftermarket box, the cable company must ask for compensation based on a monthly fee because they cannot prevent you from watching the pay-per-view movies. Again, in an aftermarket, there is no way to monitor the pay-per-view channels. Got it? Good.

I don't think there is a single cable system in the US that will give you a price for unlimited PPV. I join the majority of people who think you're lying about getting permission from your cable company to use your equipment.

but to answer your question...

Call the vendor you got your pirate box from and ask them which mfg you should use for setuping up a universal remote. At one time the pirate companies used OEM Samsung tuners. You might just try each code and see if one works.
