Louisville Gets Dress Code...
A Louisville entertainment district has a dress code, and some people aren't happy about it.
Fourth Street in Louisville is a block of nightclubs, bars and shops.
Three nights a week, sports jerseys, sleeveless shirts and backward ball caps are not allowed. Some say that's biased against African Americans and the poor.
A Kentucky minister is the one leading the protest. And now the A.C.L.U. is involved.
But the developers, the Cordish Group, say they're sticking to the original rules.
Zed Smith of Cordish Group commented, "The intent of the dress code is to raise the bar, and enhance the standard here. It has nothing to do with race. We apply the policy nationally, not just us, but at other entertainment venues throughout the country, there is a standard of dress."
The protestors did ask for a compromise: no sagging paints, bare midriffs and gang related clothing.
