On the other hand, having the Waring surname did not seem to harm the professional career of another Eddie - Eddie Waring the commentator (including Grandstand/Rugby League and It's a Knockout.)

Perhaps rather than a change of name, you need a catch phrase. Eddie Waring had things like "take an early bath" and "up and under" (I don't think "duplicate post" quite cuts the mustard).

Or a noun to add a touch of menace - Mr Richards has "Evil Eddie". Although if you choose the rather obvious Whirlwind Waring, perhaps people would think you were a snooker player.

Whirling Waring, although less dramatic (unless you are a Dervish) would at least invoke an image of spinning disks. Carping Carl? Would an occupant of a green house throw stones?

As I don't know of any other Warings named Eddie, I assume that was the one to which Stuart was originally referring

Oh, and I do know that people in grass houses shouldn't stow thrones, but that's a different joke entirely

On reflection you are right, I thought he was acknowledging your new surname and DJ status in the light of his vast music collection, rather than being in his rugby enthusiast mode - Eddy Waring had a slightly dodgy reputation among some purists.

"Evil" Eddie Richards is a leading DJ, extremely well connected both sides of the Atlantic, in his own pond, a much bigger fish than Eddie Waring.

Referring to the US scene reminds me of the way that porn actors sometimes create their professional names. They use the name of their first pet as their first name and their mothers maiden name as their last name - it would work for me.

Well, for the record (and to dispell any future rumours *someone* may start ), Richard is my middle name

BTW, didn't know there was an Eddie Richards. This is the guy, I assume?

I was referring to the Mr Edward Waring of It's a Knockout fame. I beleive he also played the "other" code of rugby, but I'll forgive him that.

Well, here are the relevant entries from my playlist for around that time:

code:
Barenaked Ladies - One Week (Played on 11/05/2004 at 08:06:45) Spice Girls - Who Do You Think You Are (Played on 11/05/2004 at 08:10:20) Desmond Dekker - You Can Get It If You Really Want (Played on 11/05/2004 at 08:14:03)

Is it possible to receive the wrong audio stream ?
No, I don't think so.

Are you sure the station actually played what was in your play list?

It was not possible for me to give the Internet much attention on the days at the time you were playing.

All I was able to do was to give it partial attention for about 5 minutes at about 8.15am today (11th May 2004).

According to the displayed text, Bananarama was being played, can't remember the title, but I did not say to myself "Hey, they are not playing what the text says". Although as I have already said, I was not able to give the narrowcast much attention.

Interestingly, some could claim that Bananarama is of the same genre as what actually appears in your play list for about the same time, perhaps there was a substitution - Did you actually listen / make a recording of your show?

By the way, the two separate play lists on your carlrichards web site are both headed by the same date and time - which reminds me. A long time ago I clicked the blogging link on your caarlwaring home page and it did not seem to lead anywhere. Just tried it again and it still appears to lead nowhere - but perhaps it is my non-mainstream browser with very restrictive security settings that is to blame.

No There may have been a period when I was not actually "on the air" when I thought I was I'll explain...

The way their system works makes it possible for anyone to stream content through their own internet connection. If their system hears a period of silence longer than 25 seconds, it starts it's own auto-playout until the stream returns. From my own recording of the show there was a 20 second period of silence (when someone pressed the wrong button!) but as this was within tollerence I didn't, at the time, expect any problems.

However, as you mention that the the text displayed something other than the title of my show - "Four Decades of Hits" I suspect that the auto-play system kicked in and I was actually talking to myself for most of the hour

I am investigating!

Thanks. Fixed it now!

As I haven't blogged since January, my account has probably been deleted. Fixing it now

You have changed it, but I am not sure you have fixed it.

My guess is that the date should have been changed from May 10th to May 11th. However, what it actually has been changed to is May 12th.

The Tardis IS returning!
