Can I use HMO with Hughes HDVR2 ?

Hello all, I am new to this community & am considering purchasing a Hughes HDVR2 Directv Receiver with built in Tivo DVR. From talking with Directv & Tivo via phone calls, I am told that the Hughes box is a series 2 DVR, However DirecTV does not offer the Home Media Option. Here is my question, is anyone using a Directv receiver/tivo DVR combo WITH the HMO option ? & if not ....is it possible to buy the HMO option from Tivo even though I will be subcribing to the service through Directv & not through Tivo directly ?

One final question .... I hear that there are reliablity issues inherant with DVRs is this the case ? & what is the breakdown rate .... can I expect to use my DVR for two full years with no problems ? I have no problem tinkering with PCs & electronics .... Have started to read the upgrading forums & it looks quite interesting .... If I have Hard Drive problem with my DVR, can I load a base software image to a new drive & start fresh ? Also can I make a back up of a current Tivo drive to use on a drive replacement ?

Sorry, I know this is alot of questions for one post .... but I am anxious to get started with a new DVR & just wondered if it is more trouble than it is worth ..... I may post this to another forum as well ....Any help would be much appreciated .... Thanks in advance Scott R.

Please try not to post the same question in multiple forums.

Thanks
