Question VBR MP3s and HMO dropping music streams?

I have a problem with HMO frequently dropping music. It will go about 10-20 minutes, then stop, and flash up a error message. My machine has enough processing power (2.4 ghz, 750MB RAM) and the wireless connection is line of site, and strong at 80+%. I've played with altering the TIVO server properties, to no avail. The only variable I can deduce is the type of media I'm streaming. I have MP3s encoded at 224KB - variable bit rate. Has anyone else had problems with VBR MP3s? Is there a workaround?

I think the drop-outs are network congestion even with the 80% signal strength. My signal strength is usually around 95%, and I've seen nasty performance issues with HMO if it dips into the 80 range. I wasn't checking whether they were VBRs, etc. when the dropouts happened, I just fiddled with the usb adapter. Everything was peachy when I got it back in the 90's.

Hope that helps ...

I'm guessing network issues also. Watch the arrow on the play bar on screen and see if it stays green when you are having trouble. The arrow will turn yellow when the bitrate gets low. I see this on some internet radio stations when I'm downloading large files on the computer and maxing out my connection.

I use VBR with a 160kbs floor on everthing I've ripped (currently about 1000 songs). I don't have any problems at all playing these through HMO using a wired network.
