Question about remote scheduling

When you schedule a recording remotely, how does the system resolve conflicts? Obviously if there is a suggestion it gets canceled, but what if you have a regularly scheduled recording? What if you have a season pass? Also, when you submit a request, and you have multiple Tivos, does it go to a specific Tivo? IE: you login to a specific Tivo, not to 'your account'?

I guess this should go in the suggestions forum, but, wouldn't it be great if you had multiple Tivo's on an account, and when you sent a remote scheduling request, it would find the Tivo that was avail to record? Or even further, share season passes and scheduled recordings to minimize the conflicts.

You choose if the remotely scheduled program overrides any other programs scheduled. If you setup a season pass remotely you basically choose if the pass goes to the top of the list or bottom of the list of passes. You get email responses back to see what happens.

When you schedule a recording, you specify which TiVo you wish to apply the program. Unfortunately, the interface isn't as smart as it could be! You don't actually 'log onto' a TiVo, you, for lack of a better word, batch the work to be done then it is applied to the household TiVo's the next time the TiVo's request an update. If I understand what I have been reading, which seems to be true, the TiVo's seem to access the network about every 15 minutes.

Yeah, I understand the "ping" the Tivo does to the home servers every 15 mins, I guess what I meant to say when I said "log into the Tivo" is "log into the scheduler for the tivo"

Note that TiVo must be using a network connection to connect to the TiVo service to have the 15 minute ping work. It is possible to have HMO and do remote scheduling when the TiVo is only connecting to the TiVo service via a dial-up connection. With a dial-up connection, there is no 15 minute ping. In that case, the TiVo will get the remote scheduling request when it makes its regular call.

If I understand the process, you are submitting new recording requests (one time, SP, etc). The TiVo gets the request, compares it to your current recording schedule, and processes the request appropriately. It then sends an email to you informing you of the outcome (rejected due to conflict, accepted, etc).

So, no, your "scheduler" is not available online to be viewed and edited.
