Pretty Cool Way to Fold T-Shirts

Stumbled across this video from Japan showing a way to fold t-shirts. I think it's neat and thought others might enjoy it also. It moves pretty fast at one point, but as soon as I go through it step-by-step, I'm going to try it.

I can sorta tell what she is doing by looking, but I don't read Japanese, so I think I am missing out on some of the steps.

holy crap! it works!!!

I'm at home and couldn't wait to try it.

Be sure to start on the side AWAY from you (I got turned around at first), plus you have to tuck the last sleeve in, or it just dangles out there, but oh-my-gawd is that cool.

thanks, eskay!!!

Glad you guys find it cool too.

The "half-empty" side of me thinks it's all a facade and that under the smooth top surface, the shirt is a wrinkled mess.

Oh, my wife is going to have a .........um party. She loves this stuff.

I always fold wrong. Some would say I did it on purpose.

If it is Japanese, maybe Amy or one of the other people who speak Japanese can translate it for us.

Definitely cool, and I'll have to try that with Toine's tshirts. I hate folding them.

Can someone who has done this write up a detailed explanation on how it's done? I can't follow the video.

It's a very graceful, origami kind of thing.

So far, the best I can manage is a twisted ball of cotton. . .

That's pretty awesome. It's origami for clothes!

Can they fold fitted sheets like that, too?

I can fold shirts that come out looking like that but not in the same way.

Just steal one of those boards from a GAP and it'll probably be easier.

leaving in them in a laundry basket is even easier.

That's pretty slick. I don't have a tshirt to use but I can see what is happening. For those who are multimedia impaired the instructions are as follows:

1. Lay out shirt flat with the side facing you.
2. Grasp the far side of the shirt with one hand, about 1 inch or so from the far edge and halfway between the collar and the hem.
3. With the other hand, grasp the edge of the shirt at either the hem or collar also 1 inch of so from the far edge.
4. Without releasing the hem or collar, reach down and grasp the other end 1 inch or so from the far edge. Your arms will now be crossed, one hand holding the shirt in the middle of the far edge.
5. Lift the shirt and uncross your arms. The shirt will be folded in half and the former far edge and arm will be hanging down inside the fold.
6. Flip the bottom edge (formerly the near edge) away from you and lay that edge on the folding surface and then lay the edge you are holding ontop of the sleeve now resting on the folding surface.
