Do I need wireless network just for remote scheduling

I travel a lot, and would love to program my TiVo remotely. Can this be done via the phone connection?

From what I understand you need to have HMO enabled tivo with a broadband access--- it can be wireless or wired.

I have heard some type of hack may also allow you to do scheduling with out HMO but I am not familar with this at all.

If your question is : if can you call the tivo through your phoneline and do remote schedueling again I am not sure of the answer for this but my guess would be no.

I'm not sure if it's still out there or not, but there was a way to do remote scheduling through AOL. There was some arrangement between AOL and TiVo.

For remote scheduling, I don't think a broadband connection is a requirement. BUT without a broadband connection, the schedule request will need to wait for the TiVo to do it's daily call (actually it's about every 28 hours or so).
