Does basic service count?

I have a Series 2 Tivo with lifetime service and HMO. As with many here, I want to get a second unit for my bedroom.

I'm considering the Pioneer DVR-810H which comes with basic service and HMO. I would use this as my second unit. My question is --- would this qualify as a second active unit or would I have to buy a lifetime subscription for this unit too?

If this qualifies, the one-time cost of the 810-H becomes very attractive because you would get a DVD burner for a relatively small premium over a full-blown second Tivo unit.

I have a Pioneer 810H and yes it comes with Basic tivo functions--- 3 day guide data.

It comes with the ability to have HMO enabled but does not come with it prepaid and available.

You must purchase an additional TIVO lifetime Account for this 810H.

And yes by far the best function of this unit is the ability to archive direct to DVD. Though my one gripe and you should now about it prior to buying-- The PQ on this unit can be bad on some sets/setups. I took several hours of tweaking my settings both by connection and actual settings on my tv to improve the PQ. To me its not bad but to others I have heard differently.

The 810H doesn't come with HMO included. If you want to add HMO to the unit, you will have to subscribe the unit to TiVo Plus. This is either a one-time charge of $299 or a monthly fee of $12.95 -- you do not have to match the same way you have your other unit subscribed. If you purchase HMO for this unit, it will cost you an additional $49 (assuming you have HMO on your other unit)

You should also know that if you use HMO to transfer a show recorded on a Series 2 unit over to the Pioneer, you will not be able to burn it to DVD. To burn a show to DVD, that program needs to have been recorded on the Pioneer.
