Unhappy i knocked over my tivo

i knocked my tivo off the shelf. the gren light still comes on. when i replugged it in the start up screen did come on and eventually took me to the main menu. BUT my remote won't work-actually i suspect maybe the infared on the tivo unit might be the problem since the red light on the remote comes on and it still turns the tv set on and off and adjusts volume. it there a way for me to check on the status of my unit myself, without taking it for repair?

The IR sensor is on the same PCB as the LEDs behind the window in the front panel. If that moves, the IR sensor may not be able to see out any more.

I believe there's a trick to popping off the front panel to gain access. Don't know it, exactly, tho.

Four TiVos now, all with single Samsung drives:
Humax DRT800 w/DVD-R (174hrs)
Two older Series 2's (142hrs and 157hrs),and a newer nightlight
Series 2, a stupid case design IMO (174hrs)
All but the last are lifetimed. TiVite since 2000. There is a Good IR solution.
