TIMEWARP: Back to the '80s
Oh, to be a Child of the '80s. Where Transformers battled G. I. Joe, He-Man and Thundercats for media supremacy (read: saturation) with all of the above having cartoons, comics and toys all at the same time.
Going through my attic, and looking at my old toys, it takes me back.
But wait: G.I. Joe just made a successful comic re-launch and The Transformers have just been labelled the NUMBER ONE comic best-seller in all the land (with both projects warming upcoming new TV series and reserving shelves at TOYS R US) and guess what? Now HE-MAN gets re-imagined as well (thanks for coining the term, Tim Burton, if only you'd done better with your subject matter) with a new TV series on the Cartoon Network:
HE-MAN also already has a new toy updated toy line as well.
And Thundercats returns to the comic shelves next month as well, with no doubt new TV series and toys on the upcoming horizon.
Just thought it was a little more than a coincidence that once one medium was championed, yet another was taken on. Now, though, I truly hope all things '80s don't counter-attack themselves and lose out to the remainderr of the drek of the '90s and current toy-entertainment fields.
Not everything was better back then, but I would assume each person's generation looks back at their own lives thinking things were better back in the "good old days."
Sorry for rambling. Just thinking out loud. On the keyboard.
