TiVo Press Conference

TiVo is having a press conference at 11am PST on Thursday, January 8. Presumably, this is to discuss the HD-DVR250. Anybody know anything else?

Make sure you steal one.... tell them it's for "Bryan's Kids".

11AM PST or 2PM PST???

The Tivo website says it starts at 2PM PST -- is that just the conference call? Does that mean the press conference is at 11AM and then the conference call is at 2?

I am conparing the HD DIrect Tivo and the Dishnetwork 921.

The Dishnetwork only has One OTA HD but it has Firewire.

The Direct Tv HD Tivo has the 2nd OTA HD Turner and no Firewire.

Can you please confirm this when you ask questions.

Also can you ask them if the plan on adding and Tivo Server function in the future like Video Streaming to other boxes.

It has been said that this years CES big topic is the Wireless Home network going to the TV.

If the HD Tivo had plans for a Wireless USB and some kind of HMO function it would be a big hit at CES. Could you ask please?

Feel free to post whatever questions you have and I'll see what I can do about getting answers there or at the DirecTv press conference at 3:00 PM.

Darin - I tried to steal the prototype last year, but I didn't try the "Brian's kids" story. Hmmm.

Put them on the spot and ask about HMO. If not at release, when?? If there are no plans on the DirecTv version, what about a HD SA attached to a current HD receiver? TiVo minds want to know!

Will it continue to have a coax RF-Out jack so that I can send analog TiVo video to other TVs in the house like I do now? If so, will it automatically downconvert HD to analog on all outgoing analog jacks such as S-Video, composite, and coax?

Also, any chance it will be able to phone home over broadband Internet instead of using a telephone connection?

Well, I'd like to know about upgradability (more HD space), but since that's not officially supported, don't know how much of an answer we can expect. Maybe the better question is: "how many hard drives could it support, and how many will it ship with?"

Will Tivo Guide data include HD broadcast channels and will Series 2 Tivo's be able to change an HD STB to an HD channel via blaster?

arbywon,

Series 2 already controls my HD STB via the IR Blaster (MOT DCT-5100). HD Channels are already in the guide too...

Wow! How? Where?

I just looked at my channel setup and guide setup and I don't see HD channels or any way to turn them on. Where should I look?

The conspiracy theorist in me tells me that they made this new forum for a reason (three months early), and we'll find out in that press conference.

Don't forget to bring your camera!!! Inquiring minds want to see the backside...

Philosofy: this forum was requested by others here (including myself) so that these kinds of discussions could be had without having to wander through the other DirecTiVo forum. No "magic bullet" here...

I may get a chance to see the HD-DVR250 tonight at the "Innovations" awards press show. It won a "Best of Innovations" award, so it will at least be on display (if I can only get to take a picture of the backside ).
