IS PC control of Tivo possible?

Is it possible for a connected PC to take control of connected Tivo's for recording shows?
If so, a useful add-on might be a new PC-based interface, where the computer grabs the scheduling data from a subscribed Tivo, and then uses that to tell the connected machines what to record and when.
Advantages:
-Possible soutions to the "soft padding" issues that Tivo won't address.
-Conflict resoution by assigning a second Tivo to record the conflicting show, with automatic post-recording transfers of shows between Tivo's.
-Single point management of multiple Tivo's, including possible lock-out of local control on selected units (Kid's room).
- Saving of recorded shows on PC hard drive, to be transferred back to subscribed Tivo's for later viewing. (For the archivers)
- An open programming interface so coders can add new features as needed..

I know its possible since some people have hacked their TiVo to allow this, but the currently the TiVo software doesn't support this natively.

Since the hacked code is open source I don't understand why TiVo can't implement it. At the very least they could expand the HMO design interface to include TiVo control functionality. It wouldn't be that difficult to do so I don't see why TiVo won't do it.
