10-250 freeze up?

I tivo'd Terminator 3 on HBOHD the other day and went to watch it last night. Well I got to about 10 minutes left in the movie and all of a sudden the picture started to get pixelated, I lost the sound and the screen went black. When I pushed any button you could see the light on the front of the unit blinking as it was getting the signal, but nothing would happen. I unplugged the hdtivo and booted it up again.

It booted up fine and I went back to watch the end of T3. Clicked to the very end of the movie which was there, and started rewinding. When it got to the same exact scene it did it again. Unplugged and restarted again, working fine...I just don't know if that was a glitch in the signal, or if there was some corruption of the drive. But it was odd that it happend at the same exact point in the movie.

I thought maybe I had too much stuff saved so I deleted T3, but I recorded probably another couple of things last night and this morning and there hasn't been a problem.

Has anyone experienced this?

Mike

The unit became unresponsive right... which is why you had to power off/power on?

I experienced this on one unit I had; a few days later it died completely and would not get past the powering up screen. I believe it was a hard drive failure.

I had several recorded programs where if I watched, they always started doing this at a certain point; I could skip past it and continue for a bit, then there'd be another place where it had a problem. Usually it would clear up on its own after 2-3 minutes probably, like it was retrying repeatedly to read and eventually timed out, kept moving on, and the same thing kept happening. Eventually it got past the problem and continued working.

Yes Doug, the unit became completely unresponsive. I hope this pig doesn't die. Who would I contact if it did... CC where I bought it or D*?

I never dreamed the dreaded dead HDTIVO would happen to me. My wife is gonna **** if this thing craps out.

I'd call DirecTV now; they cross ship, so you'll have another unit from them before returning your current one; be a little proactive and maybe you can avoid it being compeltely dead before the replacement arrives.

If you go through CC (if you're within the first 30 days), they might be able to help if they have stock at the time, otherwise they'll just let you return it, then you'll be DVR-less while waiting for another window of opportunity to buy one.
