Question tivo as a ppp server?

Hi!

I've got two TiVos here, TiVo1 with a network card, and TiVo2 with just a serial ppp connection, currently to a Win2K PC.

Due to a move about and a general tidy up, the two TiVos are going to be sat next to each other, but nowhere near a PC. I've also got just the one network cable going to that spot (although that's obviously not a major problem as I could use a splitter or another hub, but then I'll need another turbonet/cachecard/whatever too..)

However, I'm trying to minimise expense, so is it possible to set up a TiVo as a ppp server so I can just link the serial ports together (with suitable crossover) and access both machines? I presume I'd need to set up routing or bridging on TiVo1, as well as the ppp server side.

I've not done anything ppp wise on Linux, although I'm familier enough with general routing and networking on UNIX to muddle through that side of things. Is pppd on the TiVo intelligent enough to handle the incoming connection if set up correctly? Any hits or tips or highly detailed fun-dwindling walkthroughs out there?

Cheers,

Rob
