mfsrestore after a failing drive

I have a Series 1 (HDR112) which I added a 80gb drive 3 years ago. I added a TurboNet card a year ago.

Last week, all went bad. All I could get was the "Almost there" screen. I attempted to use my pronto cable to get to a bash prompt . I didn't save the session but it looked like the boot sector on drive A was bad.

I got a mfstools image for my system from a helpful ftp site. I did a mfsrestore of the image onto my former drive B. Everything worked sucessfully. I moved the jumper back to master and reinstalled the drive in my tivo. I still only get the "Almost there" screen.

Again I connected up my laptop using the pronto cable. Here is my output from the conversation with my tivo.

quote:

Console switched to DSS port

B - Boot from disk
N - Network (tftp) boot
X - print extended menu
->b
IDEprom: device info block are not initialized!
IDEprom: Can not read the first block of the boot disk.

I messed with some other stuff and when I tried to exit the menu, I got this

quote:

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to try next? Thanks.
