Using old series 1 drive as new series 2 upgrade drive

I would like to do as the subject says. I boot with mfstools and fdisk -l reports no valid partitions on this old drive I want to use to replace/upgrade my series 2 drive, is there anyway to format this old drive so I can use it? Thanks.

Just use it as if it were a brand new disk and follow the normal instructions.
