I'm bumping this thread that I found when I did a search before posting my suggestion. It's very similar to what I was thinking.
I know TiVo is for recording shows and watching them at your conveinence, but there are still some times I like to surf live TV. For me this is baseball and football season mostly. There are some things, like a baseball game, that I'd like to watch if it was on and not have to set a recording for. Baseball games can take up 4 hour blocks and I don't want to spare that if space is tight. Also there are certain shows, like SportsCenter or Baseball Tonight, that are repeated ad nauseum and would have me recording constantly. I'd just like to know, easily, what's on right now.
That brings me to my suggestion: An entry in the main menu called "Wishlists Live". This would simply be a listing of shows from my wishlists that are on at the moment. I know that I can go to the Wishlist menu and select view upcoming shows, but I have a lot of lists and compiling the screen can take nearly 3 minutes. This would just be a way to narrow that list to a quick 3 or 4 shows that I might want to watch if they were on. That way, I wouldn't have to drill through 4 menus or use the guide to see if I want Live TV or my NPL. It could also include the live "suggestions" that were part of the OP. I think it would have a good use, but maybe that's just for me.
