Try powering off the TiVo for 15 seconds and then plugging it back in again.

Are you using an S-Video cable? try a different one.

yes, that problem can occur when an s-video cable gets damaged. Be careful when you plug in an s-video cable.

I have an s-video cable connected from my AV receiver to the a TV. Every now and then I lose the picture totally. I knew it was that cable because I lost all s-video that can be switched by the AV receiver. Unplugging it and plugging it back in fixes it. Now when my back gets better I plan to replace that cable. Right now I have that s-video cable connected to the front s-video on the TV.

An s-cable would explain the b/w, but wouldn't cause a pixellated image.

True enough. Some sort of playback glitch. If it's always like that, even in the menus, the box is just broken and needs to be repaired/replaced.

Hmm. Had this happen with my DirecTiVo last night, I turned on the TV and it was in B&W. I hit the info button and saw the DTV banner in B&W, and then hit the TiVo button and saw the menus in B&W, but before I could investigate further the color snapped back in. No idea whether to blame the TiVo, the TV or the Radio Shack A/V switch. I use composite all the way, btw, no S-Video.
