Question Procedure for Removing the XP Drive Signature

I have a 120G drive that is currently in use in an WIN XP machine, ergo I assume it therefore does have the "XP signature" that the how-to's speak of.

My question is:

What is the procedure to take a previously used drive and "clean" it to a state such that it will no longer present a problem for Tivo formatting?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Not an issue. MFS Tools or dd (or whatever) will overwrite the signature when it prepares the drive.

The signature isn't a curse, the problem is that it over-writes the TiVo boot block and prevents the boot code running. Restoring the boot block to a working condition can be a /major/ hassle.

You don't need to do anything. The tools will take care of it.
