Recording speed on Pioneer DVR 810HS

Does anyone knows the re-write recording speed for DVD-RW media on the Pioneer DVR 810HS?

Pioneer states 18X speed on 4X media but I would assume that is for DVD-R media and not DVD-RW. The price difference between 2X and 4X media is huge so if the Pioneer does re-writes at 2X then 4X media is not a wise choice.

Thanks

I would contact Pioneer direct... I have same model and have been using a 2x and 4x DVD-R and DVD-RW media type.

The Pioneer records to DVD-R at 4x and to DVD-RW at 2x. So there is no need for you to waste your money on 4x DVD-RW media.

FYI: The 18x rating they have on their website is just a cheap marketing ploy. It's saying that you can record shows to DVD at 18x realtime (if the program is recorded in Basic quality), it's not an actual DVD speed rating.

2X or 4X

Thanks Dan,

I suspected that the 2X DVD-RW would be the speed when using that media.

I noticed you have HMO with your Pioneer 810HS. Did you have to upgrade to Tivo Plus in order to get the HMO?

Does that mean $12.99 a month or $299.00 Life membership?
Plus $49.00 for a 2nd HMO?

Is there any other way? Options?

Cheers

Joe

That's a pretty good question. I'm almost positive you have to have a subscription to get HMO. But I'd call TiVo and ask them. It might be available with just TiVo basic, but I don't think so.

You'll get much more enjoyment out of your TiVo service if you purchase TiVo plus. To be honest, I'm not sure if I'd buy the HMO if I had it to do all over again. Who am I kidding? I would, but I don't think it's the greatest service in the world. The only thing I use regularly is transferring shows between TiVos, and that's rare. I'm kind of excited about the upcoming TiVo to Go service, which requires HMO.

You have to have a subscription to have HMO on the Pioneer or Toshiba units. The free trial version of TiVo Plus isn't able to have HMO added to it either.
