The answer to your phone wait nightmares?

I just read this article: http://www.wired.com/news/gizmos/0,1452,62184,00.html. It sounds cool, but be aware...

No way. Then I'd just yell "GIVE ME A F***ING HUMAN!" into the handset, as soon as the autoattendent picks up. Phone centers couldn't handle the load.

To be honest though, I generally find the autoattendent much more friendly and useful than the average CSR.

I just have read alot of posts in here where people are fed up with the Automated assistant when they call TiVo, and thought it sounded cool. I hope they would have a way to distinguish those people trying to Fool the system into thinking they were mad, and those who are generally frustrated with the system and just want to get to a live agent.

Great. If there was an operator available all the time, why not send them a call in the first place?!

And how would you like to be the lucky "operator" who gets only the angry callers.

Bad idea. I'm a nice polite person waiting to tell TiVo I want to opt-in to extra data collection, and I have to wait. But the angry moron who can't be bothered to read the manual and is calling to complain that his #%&@! TiVo is "recording things all by itself" would get an operator first?

If only that was the case, I would have actually gotten through to someone instead of chucking my phone across the room after being led in circles by their menu system. One of the insurance companies did a study where it found most people who called and used the automated system still had to talk to a live person so they pretty much did away with the automated system. It is amazing that hold times dropped and their employees were happier and the same with the customers.
