Recording hours on Series 2 tivos

I was wondering what recording cap. Have ever been on a Series 2 tivo?

Has there been a 30 hour? I know of 40 60 and 80 + some bigger ones. And I know that you can upgrade and all of that. But Stock recording cap.

I think Series 2 started at 40 Hour.

There is no recording cap I know of, other than the buffer is limited to 30 minutes.

That "hour rating" is a basic quality, higher quality recordings will take up more space on the HDD, reducing potential recording capacity.

Why do you keep rewinding that? Because with TiVo, I can.

140 hour TiVo series 2 is the largest capacity available so far. Unless someone has figured out how to get around the 137GB limit per drive, the maximum upgraded capacity would be 274GB and about 350 hours or so.

Nah I just seen a tivo on ebay that said 30 hour tivo. I assumed it was a series 1 since it was a 30 hour one. I thought they started @ 40 as well. But the picture was that of a series 2 tivo. The seller had -1 feedback so I was leary anyway and to see you say that you think they started @ 40 as well makes me feel better.

Thanks,

Check this list for a good overview of the different models and their recording capacities:

Thanks but I did not know what the numbers on the back of the tivo were.
It just said 30 hour tivo. But the picture was of a series 2. So either it was a series 1 with a hacked photo. Or a non-standard series2.

Thanks.
