Problems downloading program data
Hi All.
I have a hacked Tivo, Series 1, running PPP over serial, and phoning home over my DSL connection. Unfortunately, a few weeks ago the Tivo's power was disconnected while it was indexing the database after phoning home, and it's been sick ever since.
At first, it would display the schedule, phone home, download data, import it, but it wouldn't record anything. Searching for programs didn't work as well - it wouldn't find anything.
Then I cleared the program data through the menus. After that was done, I had the Tivo phone home, it did, loaded the data (took a couple of hours), and ... was back to the way it was before - displays the schedule, but doesn't record or find anything.
After this, I restarted the Tivo, and was very happy to find a black message box upon entering the "Pick programs to record", saying "indexing data, you will be able to record in 4-8 hours", or something to that effect. Unfortunately, 3 days later, that message box is still there.
My next course of action is to reset the Tivo completely ("Clear and delete everything"), and see if that does the trick. I'm hoping, though, that there's an easier way. I do have a bash prompt, and I also have my original 1.3 backup, though I'm pretty sure restoring it would make me a moron.
Anything else I should try? If all else fails, will one of those $19.99 images you can order online do the trick for me?
I was also wondering whether the backup/restore through mfstools will help, even though I'll lose all my recordings. I couldn't find much information on what mfstools backup/restore actually does, though.
Thanks.
