Tivo Changing Channels at night?

Hey Guys, turned on the TV yesterday and found a black screen. Thought uh oh, wife didn't pay the bill, but then checked another channel and sure enough it was on, but just tuned to an unsubscribed channel. Turned it on today same thing!

I mentioned this to a coworker and they said the same thing happens to them!

I checked my todo list and pregrams waiting to be recorded, but I have nothing going there!

Any ideas??

TiVos will automatically tune to the Discovery Channel at about 3am some nights/mornings to record promotional content for yellow-star ads and Showcases, but I'd guess you get the Discovery Channel and wouldn't be looking at a blank screen if it left it tuned there.

What channel was it, do you remember? That information might trigger something about odd TiVo behavior buried in my scatterbrained noggin.

The TiVo changes to either 581 or 582 at night in order to download the guide data and video for the Showcases and the yellow star info you see in DirecTV Central. Discovery 278 is also used sometimes. These will not show up in the NPL,

The 2 AM download tunes to Channel 100 to download program info. Sometime it will stay on that channel when it is done & sometimes it will return to the channel that the tuner was originally on. I haven't figured out why at times it stays on Channel 100 when other times it doesn't. One of those great mysteries of D-Tivos.

Mine has never stayed on channel 100. It always goes back to the previous channel. It does, however, stay on the Discovery Channel when it records TiVo stuff from there.

changing channels

Mine does the same weird stuff. A lot of times when I turn it on first thing in the morning, it's tuned to the Playboy channel. It didn't record anything and I don't even have that channel turned on but there it sits. My wife has given me some funny looks over that. "What's it doing on the Playboy channel?" "How would I know? I was sleeping next to you, remember?"

Channel 581 or 582

Yeah, it was channel 581 582, I just noticed the previews on my tivo. So I guess that is what it was. I wonder if there is a way to turn those off!

I did turn off the Tivo automatic downloads when I first got the tivo, but all of a sudden I see these channels!
