Anyone know the compression ratio at Best Quality for standalone series 2? Since signal is passed as analog to TiVo, then TiVo converts to digital for storage I think we'd need infinite storage to store at original or mint quality. TiVo would have to draw the line some where on the sample rate of the analog signal for storage.

Just wondering since I can notice a little imperfections on my 19" screen at high quality. I'm getting a new 27" soon and it probably be more noticeable. So I'm wondering if I probably have to record more shows at Best.

I have a 27 inch TV and at best quality the picture is almost perfect. I imagine the defects only come out on the real big boys 40 inch and above.

Its comcast digital cable w/ a S-vid cable from cable box to tivo and another s-vid from tivo to tv.

Its also a matter of taste I record most everything in Best quality. However if your input signal is clean even things recorded in basic look pretty good most of the time. No worse than a VCR on EP.

Best quality is encoded as 544x480/MPEG-2 @ 6Mbps.
