Its also a matter of taste I record most everything in Best quality. However if your input signal is clean even things recorded in basic look pretty good most of the time. No worse than a VCR on EP.
It's nice that you have S-Video from your STB. Unfortunately all I have are the composite and RF outs for mine. Now that I'm getting a 27", I might just cancel digital cable, get the HD cable for my Xbox, hook it up and watch movies from NetFlix in 480i. Come on TiVo, I want to download movie rentals via TiVo2Go.
On another note, I wonder if its possible for an adapter that plugs into the USB port and output the signal in component 480i or 480p for standard definition. That'll give the TiVo longer shelf life.
