Display of recorded programs is jerky

I have a SAT- T60 Directivo that I have upgraded with help from these forums to 225 hours. LOVE IT!! Recently it has atarted behaving kind of strange. Playing recorded shows with stop fo 30 seonds to 3 minutes. During this time all of the controls on the remote are dead. Then all of a sudden, it takes of and works again. This may happen 1 to 20 times during a program. It only accasionally happens while pausing live TV.

My guess is that you of the hard drives is going bad. Any other ideas or suggestions?????

How do I test the HDs out of the unit??

I would check for IR interference from some outside source. This could be producing strange effects. I say this because you aren't seeing the problem with live TV, which is really just playing back the 30m minute buffer.

Your TiVo freezes and doesn't respond to the remote control?

Sounds like a failing HDD...

turn off the tivo, unplug it, remove the HDD... plug into an available slot in your PC and run the manufacturer's diagnostic s/w (e.g. you can download Maxtor's from their website and it will create a boot floppy)

Run the diagnostic and it will tell you what's up.

I had this happen to me last Thursday.
