TB, I have two bottles, both will be waiting for you at Mav's some Saturday night in the relatively near future.

I don't know much about scotch. Here's what the labels say:

1) The Glenlivet -- Pure Single Malt Scotch Whisky -- aged 12 years

2) Glenfiddich -- Special Reserve Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Hmm... that reminds me of the movie Swingers

Funny, the Glenfiddich doesn't mention how long it was aged. Any clue or way to find out?

Anyway, they're yours come August.

I don't drink scotch. I have never been able to develop a taste for it. While I was in Portland a few weeks ago, my brother-in-law showed me a bottle of Johnny Walker black label that was purchased some time during WW II by a group of soldiers that was intended to be for a reunion after the war. Sadly, the reunion never happened, and the bottle is unopened to this day. It has an IRS tax seal on it.

While I like to occasionally splurge on The Glenlevit, $28 for 1.5L of Cutty is hard to beat!

At Gatwick airport last week, I gazed at a $5,000 bottle of 50 year old Whisky....now that's a splurge!

Try as I might, I never developed a taste for Scotch. I have a rich fraternity brother who tried to get me into the high-end single malt stuff, but I just never got into it.

However, I have a nice 2000 Delaforce vintage porto decanted, and I will tip a glass in your honor tonight when I get home.

To those who drink scotch, do you really like it? I personally have never had any but I've heard time and time again how awful it is.

My father-in-law, who partakes in many different kinds of liquor, says there is something funny about watching a scotch drinker. He says they take a drink, make the most awful face and then say "Ooh, that was smooth".

Oh yes, I absolutely LOVE the flavor of good scotch. Like most booze, if it ain't quality stuff, it does taste pretty bad. But even a good blended scotch is acceptable, and that 21-year-old Balvenie port-cask-aged is downright heavenly. Mmmmm - I'm salivating just thinking of it. I'll be pouring a glass this evening.

Yes, I love scotch, but it has to be good scotch, and preferably a single malt scotch. However, I do drink my fair share of Chivas, thanks to my dad. Apprently, I used to try to steal drink out of his Chivas on the rocks when I was around 2 years old, so I guess I was just born with an aquired taste.
