Post 60G upgrade but only 63 hours?

I've just completed a drive replacement upgrade for my SA Tivo. The procedure I used was (abridged):

1. Copy a 30h image to a WD 60G drive.
2. Run the TivoMad utility to expand it.
3. Put all the hardware back together.

Everything appeared to go fine (Bios saw 60G etc). Other notes have indicated a Gig to hours factor of about 1.2, so a 60G should get me about 72h. Searching the archives it looks like others using a 60G have been getting more like 80h or so.

Mine shows 63 hours (62h 50-some minutes). From everything I've read, that seem low.

Anyone have any ideas about what might be going on?

I think you're forgetting about the reserve space which is taken by 2.0.1 when it sees a system over a certain size and without the appropriate reserve space.. This is because the software was written to expect a certain amount of reserved space on a certain sized system and if it doesn't see all the reserved space it expects, it will take what it needs to makeup the difference..

Most people with large upgraded systems lost about 12 hours at basic with the 2.0.1 upgrade...

This is very close to what you have here...

I had a 92 hour TiVo(15+60GB) which was reduced to 79 with the 2.0.1 upgrade..

63 hours sounds just about right...

I did the exact same upgrade as you did. 30 hour upgraded to a single WD 60 gig HD.

Total recording time in Basic: 62 hours 52 minutes.
