 Tivo Series 2 80H

I got it but haven't hooked it up its for xmas. How noisy is the fan truthfully. i am about 10 feet away from my tv will i hear it or will it be silent to me?

 I just bought a 60H

and I dont hear anything. I have read some whine about the noise but I have no idea what they are talking about. TIVO has been great so far!

Just got one this weekend. My couch is about 7 - 8 feet from the TV. I can't hear the thing at all. I saw a few posts about really loud noise ... but I just don't hear it. While I'm at it, I saw some posts complaining about extreme heat as well ... my unit is wedged into an under-the-tv media cabinet with about 5 other A/V units, and I haven't noticed any heat or cooling problems whatsoever.

The fans only seem to be a problem in people's bedrooms - and most don't even notice them there. If you have a TV on, you can't hear a fan over it, unless its pretty old.

I have mine in my entertainment center. 7-8 feet away. Trust me you won't hear it, unless you are listening for it. My computer makes more noise than my tivo.

But think about it, when you have your tivo on, you will probably be watching tv or some recorded program, so it won't matter cuz the sound from the tv/speakers will superceed any sound anything makes.

I am 10 feet away from my Tivo 80 Hour Series 2 and I can hear the fans and hard drive. It would be exponentially worse if it was'nt partially enclosed within a cabinet.

This is my major complaint about the Tivo.... it's just plain noisy!
