ethernet to usb

I tried using my Siemens wireless USB adaptor and found that wireless is not supported yet, so I was forced to find a wired adaptor. It took me a while, but I finally found an ethernet to usb adaptor that worked.

I tried the Siemens 10/100 and that did not work, I tried the newer Linksys usb 2.0 which I did not expect to work (although it did light up all the indicator lights, but failed to connect). I tried some cheap microsoft adaptor that also did not work, and finally returned all of those and tried an older Linksys USB100TX which worked like a charm.

To see what this model looks like follow the link below. There are a lot of these type of products out there and most did not work for me. I think this is one of the simpler and older pieces of equipment that must have supported drivers in the TIVO.

Good luck

Could have saved some trouble searching on this forum for "usb ethernet".

Came up with http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-v...?postid=1009306

I use the 3com 3C460B, which I bought after doing a similar search.

Four TiVos now, all with single Samsung drives:
Humax DRT800 w/DVD-R (174hrs)
Two older Series 2's (142hrs and 157hrs),and a newer nightlight
Series 2, a stupid case design IMO (174hrs)
All but the last are lifetimed. TiVite since 2000. There is a Good IR solution.

I actually did do some research and found some different model numbers that supposedly would work, however the only one on the list that I was able to find in the stores was the the Linksys that I ultimately stuck with. I went to three stores and bought what was available first, and ultimately found what I was looking for at Circuit City. I don't usually like to shop at Best Buy or Circuit City because I work for the local competition here in Madison, but we did not carry much in the way of networking gear.

I did search a bunch on the forums but was limited to what I could find in the stores, and I am impatient so I could not wait to buy something online. I should have researched more before I bought my Tivo, but I wanted to buy before the lifetime pricing went up. Besides I just bought my 65 inch Mitsubishi widescreen TV and just had to have my Tivo working. Thanks for your comments.

I have the patience to wait for shipping, but not to deal with the idiots working at most B&M stores (I'm sure yours is the exception

yeah I hear you. I did not enjoy my experiences at the stores I shopped at, and honestly our sales people knew much less about the product than I needed them to know. I have made a point to fill them in on my experiences and what works. hopefully future customers will benefit from my experience. by the way, I am loving my tivo. yay for me!
